Welcome to Real Image Photography. My name is Pete Battye and I would like to thank you for taking the time to explore my website.

My passion for photography grew throughout my high school years leading to an eight year career as a photographer in The Royal Australian Air Force. As such I was extremely fortunate to learn my craft in an environment that called for and demanded perfection. At the same time I sought to nurture my artistic flare by combining my technical ability with the constant requests for innovative and original photography from friends and family. The positive feedback I received, together with my own personal satisfaction, instilled in me the belief that the path I had chosen was unquestionably the right one.

In 1999 I embarked on a global adventure with the intention of seeing and photographing as much of the world as possible. I joined the Contiki Travel team and became their leading European brochure photographer. Here I was capturing travellers living it up all over Europe, Russia, Scandinavia, the UK, the USA, and back down under in New Zealand and Australia. Amazing!

Time out enabled me to travel further afield and off the beaten track. Back packing through India, Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Egypt, Jordan, Cuba and Iceland presented me with countless photographic opportunities where immortalising the true human spirit on film became my passion.

I love what I do. Through my photography I’ve had the opportunity to photograph, meet and get to know people from all walks of life. Photography has greatly enriched my memories and through the lens I’ve captured the fun, natural and special events in peoples lives, resulting in precious memories and real images that last forever.

With both feet now firmly planted back on home soil, I am living in the stunning Margaret River region of Western Australia. I could not be happier and I’m taking immense pleasure in building my photographic business, drawing upon the skills I have learnt along the way. I still love the open road and am happy to travel to Perth or country areas. I have an individual, original style to my work, and an “only the best will do” attitude.
